Our Curriculum

Our Programme

Our early learning programme is developed to allow children to learn at their own pace in their own way. We work collaboratively with you and your preschool child to recognise their individual learning goals and aspirations.

Our early education teachers provide support and opportunities for your child during their time at The Angel Steps Daycare and Kindergarten Early Learning Centre to help them reach these goals.

We believe play is key to a child's development. Play is a child's unique way of learning about the world. We provide opportunities for both spontaneous play and more structured activities for those children who enjoy this challenge.

Our Learning Environment

Learning environments at The Angel Steps Daycare and Kindergarten Learning Centre are calm and unhurried. We aim to allow time for rich conversations and opportunities for our children to grow and learn as individuals. We provide children with the freedom to explore and make their own discoveries whilst supporting a sense of wonder and curiosity.

We are aware and responsive to children's cultural identity, incorporating and extending this through many aspects of our programme.

Our teachers delight in children's learning and love to discover and learn alongside our children.

Our Programs

Age-Appropriate Learning Programs

Junior Program

Daycare Program (6 Months to 6 Years)

At Angel Steps International Daycare and Kindergarten, we understand that children between the ages of 2 and 3½ are full of curiosity and are constantly growing in different areas. Our Junior Program is designed to support their development in key areas such as:

  • Social and emotional skills
  • Language and communication
  • Cognitive thinking (critical thinking and problem-solving)
  • Physical development

We believe that every child is unique and develops at their own pace. With this in mind, we provide a variety of fun, Montessori-based activities that help children learn while they play. These include activities like matching objects, pouring, chopping, transferring, and introducing basic literacy and math concepts.

Pre-K Program

Lower Kindergarten Program (2½-3½ Years)

The Lower Kindergarten curriculum focuses on enhancing cognitive, physical, and social skills through hands-on learning experiences. Key areas include:

  • Reading: Exposure to stories, poems, and rhymes to develop language skills, self-awareness, and emotional intelligence.
  • Pre-Writing & Math: Introduction to numbers, shapes, time, space, money, and early math concepts.
  • Cultural Subjects: Exploring science, history, geography, and responding to curiosity.
  • Life Skills: Developing independence through practical life activities such as cleaning, food prep, and social skills.
  • Social & Emotional Development: Focus on empathy, emotional intelligence, and early comprehension through activities like predicting story outcomes.
Kindergarten Program

Upper Kindergarten Program (3½-6 Years)

Upper Kindergarten prepares children for primary school with an emphasis on responsibility, independence, and learning across five key areas:

  • Practical Life: Building independence, social skills, and care for the environment.
  • Sensorial: Exploring colors, shapes, textures, and sensory experiences (smell, taste, sound).
  • Mathematics: Developing skills in numbers, counting, addition, subtraction, and basic operations like multiplication and division.
  • Language: Expanding oral language, phonics, sentence structure, letter formation, and early literacy skills (reading and writing).
  • Culture: Introducing subjects like geography, botany, zoology, science, history, art, and music.

The curriculum nurtures curiosity, independence, and self-directed learning while challenging each child appropriately to foster a lifelong love of learning.
